About the Recorderís Office:
It is the duty of the County Recorderís Office to maintain all the land records in Muskingum County. The office
makes a complete, accurate and permanent record of every document pertaining to
the conveyance of land within the county. The Recorderís office is
responsible to file, record and index every document they receive and to make
it accessible to the public. The Recorder enforces more than 1000
sections of the Ohio Revised Code pertaining to the duties of the office.
The Recorder also serves on the countyís Record Commission which oversees the
retention and disposal of the county records. The Muskingum County
Recorderís Office contains records dating back to 1803. The records in
the Recorderís Office are utilized by attorneys, genealogists, surveyors,
general public and land title examiners.
