About the Recorder’s Office:
It is the duty of the County Recorder’s
Office to maintain al the land records in Muskingum County.
The office makes a complete, accurate and permanent record of every document
pertaining to the conveyance of land within the county. The Recorder’s
office is responsible to file, record and index every
document they receive and to make it accessible to the public. The
Recorder enforces more than 1000 sections of the Ohio Revised Code pertaining
to the duties of the office. The Recorder also serves on the county’s
Record Commission which oversees the retention and disposal of the county
records. The Muskingum County Recorder’s Office contains records dating
back to 1803. The records in the Recorder’s Office are utilized by
attorneys, genealogists, surveyors, general public and land title examiners.
